Verdant Publishing is a small, independent press dedicated to supporting artists, writers, and creatives whose work is connected to nature, science and ecology. We publish anthologies, poetry, literary fiction, narrative nonfiction, fiction, and nonfiction that explore the intersections of creativity, the natural world, and human experience.

Established in 2025, Verdant Publishing currently has three exciting titles in production:

  A vibrant anthology celebrating the first five years of The Verdancy Project, a unique artist residency rooted in nature and community in the Pacific Northwest.

  This richly illustrated book features work from 30 artists and writers, alongside sections exploring the land and community that shape The Verdancy Project. Inside, you’ll find essays, poetry, artwork, and over 85 full-color images capturing the beauty and creativity that have flourished here.

• The Small Particulars - Joellen Sweeney - Coming Autumn 2025
  The Small Particulars spans 10 years of writing in the margins — poems scrawled at odd hours, on scrap papers, when the author was meant to be doing other work, even in the shower—about subjects as large as the multiverse and as small as a few blades of grass. Like a handful of pebbles and shells collected from a beach, it’s an ode to the small treasures accumulated on life’s ordinary days.

  Joellen Sweeney is an actor, theatre maker, vocalist and poet with a deep and abiding love of the outdoors. She is a founding company member of Bedrock Theatre, a performing ensemble that creates site-specific and immersive outdoor works. The Small Particulars is her first collection of poetry.
